Season launch: Bayer 04 entertain Valencia

A mouth-watering prospect awaits Werkself supporters in the run-up to the 2019/20 season: The team under coach Peter Bosz will play the Spanish Champions League participants and current cup holders Valencia at the season launch event on Sunday 4 August. The match at the BayArena kicks off at 14.00 CET.

The BayArena opens up two hours before kick-off. From noon, all supporters will have the opportunity to enjoy the fun and games in and around the stadium. Tickets for the season launch event go on sale on 9 July.

Valencia had an outstanding season last term. The Blanquinegros not only finished fourth in La Liga to qualify for the Champions League again but also progressed to the Spanish cup final where they secured a surprise 2-1 win against Barcelona to lift the domestic cup trophy for an eighth time. In Europe they went out of the group stage of the Champions League but went on to reach the semi-finals of the Europa League. There they lost out to Arsenal.

Marcelino is the Valencia coach. The stars of the six-time champions include the French striker Kevin Gameiro plus the Spain internationals Roderigo, Carlos Soler and Daniel Parejo.
