Currently injured absentees Wendell (ankle), Joel Pohjanpalo (rehab after foot injury), Bernd Leno (knee) and Charles Aránguiz (recovery session at BayArena) have been joined by Johnathan Tah following the hip injury sustained in Saturday night's game at Borussia Dortmund.
In contrast to Leno and Aránguiz, who may well be fit by the weekend, it appears unlikely that Heiko Herrlich will be able to call on the 22-year-old again this term. "It's annoying that another first-team regular from the back four in Jona joins Wendell on the injury list. But we can't do anything about it and now we need to deal with the situation as a group – others need to step in and that's what defines a team in the end," said the Werkself head coach looking forward to the forthcoming games against Suttgart, Werder Bremen (5 May 15.30 CET) and the final match of the season against Hannover 96 (12 May, 15.30 CET).
Herrlich was optimistic about the prospects for Karim Bellarabi who dropped out of training after 30 minutes due to a muscle problem.
