The Werkself have not won any of the last three games against Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga – Bayer 04 have not gone so long without a win against other team in the top-flight. In contrast, BVB have not won any of their last eight Bundesliga fixtures against a league leader.
Nevertheless, both teams go into the game with confidence: The Black and Yellows have won five of their last six Bundesliga matches with the Werkself celebrating a tenth league win in succession against Werder Bremen (current club record) on top of winning the German league title for the first time in the club's history.
Borussia Dortmund were involved in an action-packed clash with Atlético Madrid in the week. Thanks to a 4-2 win against the Rojiblancos, Borussia are now in the semi-finals of the Champions League – that could give BVB a boost ahead of today's match against the newly crowned champions of Germany. The team from Dortmund have also produced impressive performances in the league over recent weeks and are now in a good position for the season run-in: The Black and Yellows are currently fifth in the table on 56 points – three points behind fourth-placed RB Leipzig who moved above them with a win yesterday. Further information on today's opposition can be found in our lowdown on our next oponents.
The Nordkurve12 fan group has called for supporters to wear red in the remaining matches as part of the Finally Red campaign – that includes today's away game at BVB. Bayer 04 fans will meet up in Dortmund from 14.30 CEST on the away car park E1/E2. The bus convoy will also arrive there. Everyone will then enter the away section together at the Signal Iduna Park when the stadium opens at 15.00 CEST.
8,000 Werkself fans will be supporting the team at the Signal Iduna Park today. The away section is sold out. As usual, the Bayer 04 Fan Liaison team has put together information on the away game. HERE is the fan information.
The DFB has appointed Daniel Siebert as the referee for today's game. The 39-year-old has previously been in charge of 24 games involving the Werkself (ten wins, six draws, eight defeats). He will be assisted by Jan Seidel and Rafael Foltyn with Johann Pfeifer in action in the VAR studio.
As usual, Werkself Radio is available for anybody unable to be at today's game. The audio broadcast begins 30 minutes before kick-off with commentary provided by Niko Hartmann and Cedric Pick. In addition, the live text update service will keep you up-to-date to ensure you don't miss any of the key match action. Both Werkself Radio and the live text update service are available at bayer04.de and on the Bayer 04 app.
