Havertz voted ‘Player of the Month’ again

The Bundesliga fans have decided: Kai Havertz was the key league player at the tail end of the season. As in the previous month, the Werkself number 29 picked up the title ‘Player of the Month’ for May – in a fan vote organised by the German Football League and EA SPORTS, he beat his two team-mates Charles Aránguiz and Lucas Alario plus David Alaba, Joshua Kimmich (both Bayern Munich) and Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund).

The 20-year-old Germany international proved to be a guarantee of success in the final stage of the season – with his seven goals in the last seven league games, the home-grown Bayer 04 midfielder made a significant contribution to the Werkself qualifying for next season's UEFA Champions League as one of the top four clubs in Germany. Above all in the three most recent matches – including twice in the month of May – Havertz, who played in all of the 34 championship games for the Werkself as did Kevin Volland, open the scoring for the Werkself against Eintracht Frankfurt (6-1), Schalke 04 (1-1) and at Hertha Berlin (5-1).

The fans marked those performances by making the international the Player of the Month. Last month, Havertz was the second Bayer 04 player to secure the award this year alongside Julian Brandt (February). Congratulations!.

The official award of Player of the Month was presented for the first time in the current Bundesliga campaign. The vote was carried out by the German Football League (DFL) in cooperation with the official licensing partner the Bundesliga, EA SPORTS FIFA 19. The award is based on a two-stage selection process where both the performance date of the player as well of the vote from fans and experts are taken into account.

New plan for the Bayer 04 Campus: Area reduced by a third, green corridor widened

Bayer 04 has presented the groups on the Monheim council with extensively revised proposals for the planned Campus. As part of constructive discussions, the club presented a plan to the CDU, SPD, Greens, FDP, PETO and the Left Party that envisages a one-third reduction in the area of the site on Alfred-Nobel-Strasse. The distance to neighbours will be increased by almost 60 percent. The green corridor will therefore be significantly larger than previously planned. Here are the main changes.
