Just before the final whistle in the game against VfL Wolfsburg at the BayArena in October 2022, Frimpong accidentally kicked the ball at a young boy in the North Stand and hit him in the face, he apologised and presented him with his shirt after the end of the game – a gesture that the young Bayer 04 fan will remember for a long time. Frimpong has been nominated for the DFL Fair Play of the Season Award for this act of kindness. Werkself fans can vote for Jeremie Frimpong up to and including Sunday 18 June. Click HERE to vote and see a video of the event.
The Fair Play of the Season Award:
From the Fair Play moments of the season, presented by the German Football League (DFL) after every matchday, six events have been selected for the vote in partnership with Bundesliga legend Philipp Lahm. The Fair Play of the Season Award is determined by votes from fans as well as club and pundit votes. That consists of a pundits panel (worth 30%), which is made up of Bundesliga legends and selected media partners. In addition to the pundits panel, fans have a larger share of the vote (40%). Also entitled to vote are the team captains of the 18 Bundesliga clubs (30%).
