DFL confirms matchdays 27 to 29: Away to Gladbach on 23 May

The German Football League (DFL) today announced the details of Bundesliga matchdays 27 to 29.

Bayer 04 are away to Werder Bremen on Monday, 18 May (kick-off: 20.30 CET) in the next match on the road. Saturday 23 May brings another away game against Borussia Mönchengladbach at Borussia Park. The kick-off in the top encounter for a Champions League spot is at 15.30 CET. Over the next week, the Werkself entertain VfL Wolfsburg at the BayArena on Tuesday, 26 May (kick-off: 20.30 CET). Peter Bosz’s team visit SC Freiburg three days later. The kick-off is again at 20.30 CET.

All the matches are behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic. “The next confirmation of fixtures for the Bundesliga and the second division will probably be made next week,” according to the DFL website.

After six and a half years, Exequiel Palacios is leaving the Bundesliga and moving from Bayer 04 to the Premier League. The Argentine, who as a Werkself player won the World Cup with his national team four years ago and finished as runners-up at this summer’s tournament, will play for newly promoted English side Ipswich Town with immediate effect. The 27-year-old, whose contract in Leverkusen was due to run until 30 June 2030, joined Bayer 04 in January 2020 as a promising young talent. He steadily developed into one of the best defensive midfielders in the German top flight.
