The reason for the change of date is the Europa League semi-final away leg for the Werkself at AS Roma on 11 May, which was just four days after the original date of the game against FC Köln. Tickets for the Bundesliga derby are still valid.
"We are fully aware that this change of date at short notice has large and unexpected implications for many of the parties affected as well as for the fans of both clubs. We would like to apologise for that and at the same time express our gratitude for all the decision-makers for their support in our endeavours," said Fernando Carro, Bayer 04 CEO.
The Bundesliga match against FC Köln on Friday 5 May at 20.30 CEST will be broadcast live on DAZN in Germany.
