Winter timetable: Training starts on 29 December

Just nine days separate the last match in the first half of the season and the start of preparations for the second half of the league campaign. Head coach Gerardo Seoane will hold the next training session at the BayArena on Wednesday, 29 December.

There will be training until New Year's Eve before Lukas Hradecky and Co. have the day off on New Year's Day. Monday 2 January marks the start of immediate preparations for the first match in the second half of the season. Fourth-placed Bayer 04 are at home on Saturday 8 January against Union Berlin who are currently seventh. The kick-off at the BayArena is at 15.30 CET.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, all Werkself training sessions will continue to be held behind closed doors.

Battling Werkself lose 2-0 in Athens

It was a disappointing night in Athens: The Werkself lost 2-0 away to Olympiacos on Matchday 7 in the league phase of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League campaign. In a match that was intense and fiery from the outset, the high-pressing home side made the better start and took the lead through Costinha on two minutes. Although the Werkself had a number of chances to equalise, the clinical Greek side increased the lead to 2-0 shortly before half-time (45+1’). In the second half, Leverkusen once again gave their all and showed total commitment but, despite their best efforts, the Black and Reds were unable to break down the Olympiacos defence on the night.
