
The Werkself won all three Bundesliga matches in December. After the 2-1 home win against newly promoted FC St. Pauli, the Black and Reds clocked up a 2-0 win at FC Augsburg and a 5-1 home victory over SC Freiburg in the final competitive match of 2024. Florian Wirtz was in the starting XI in all three games, he scored a goal in each of the three matches and also set up three goals against SC Freiburg. Wirtz had never before provided three assists in a league match.
Bayer 04 fans can cast their votes up to Sunday, 15 December (23.59 CET). The Leverkusen playmaker, who was in the votes for the months of September and November, is joined by Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich (both Bayern Munich), Paul Nebel (Mainz 05), Mitchell Weiser (Werder Bremen) plus Nick Woltemade (VfB Stuttgart). The final result is made up as follows: 40% of the weighting comes from fans votes with 30% each from the 18 team captains plus a group of pundits.
