Völler steps back from Bayer 04 duties

Rudi Völler’s commitment to the German Football Association (DFB) brings changes at Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Völler will immediately step down from the duties he took on since retiring as the sporting managing director in the summer of 2022. That includes his membership of the Bayer 04 shareholders committee. In addition, the 62-year-old will no longer be a club ambassador until the end of his work for the DFB.

Werner Wenning, chair of the Bayer 04 shareholders committee: "We are happy for Rudi Völler and wish him the best of luck and lots of success with this challenging and important task with the Association."

Rudi Völler: "After leaving the operational business, I've enjoyed my commitment to new functions at the club and I'd like to carry on. But the role at the German Football Association now demands my full concentration. Therefore, I'm grateful to Werner Wenning and Fernando Carro for the opportunity to step down from my work for Bayer 04 for the time being."
