Three-match ban and fine for Alario

Bayer 04 will have to manage without Lucas Alario in the next three Bundesliga matches. The sports tribunal of the German Football Association (DFB) suspended the Argentinean central striker following his red card in Sunday's derby away to FC Köln. Alario was also fined 10,000 euros. Bayer 04 and the player have accepted the verdict.

Alario was sent off 32 minutes into the 2-0 defeat for Leverkusen in  Cologne. After consulting the VAR, referee Harm Osmers interpreted Alario's contact with FC Köln's Dominik Maroh as violent conduct. Alario, with seven goals in the Bundesliga to date, is now suspended for the forthcoming fixtures against FC Augsburg (31 March), RB Leipzig (9 April) and Eintracht Frankfurt (14 April).
