He hits the nail on the head about what really matters to us all in the end: the match. About what happens in front of us on the pitch. About tackles and goals. About football in the final analysis. And that's exactly why we have focused so much of our attention on the matchday page on our new website. We asked ourselves: How can we get our fans perfectly in the mood for a the Werkself matchday?
What information should definitely be included? What do we want to deliver in our live reporting of the 90 minutes? What can we offer after the final whistle? And how can we present everything to do with a matchday in detail and, at the same time, in a comprehensive and compact fashion?
The matchday page is our answer to all these questions. Everything thing is brought together here: text, images, interviews, minute-by minute reporting, press conferences, social media content. Everything to do with a Werkself matchday. Always available and optimised for all devices.
The first content comes in days before the match. For example, the our next opponents profile. Comprehensive data preview and statistics. Ticket information. That is gradually followed by video coverage of the press conference with the head coach and the match preview compiled by Bayer 04 TV. The final facts about the current personnel situation for both teams, the match officials line-up, special matchday events or local transport updates complete the picture.
Matchday! Now it's exciting! We start our minute-by-minute live reporting two hours before kick-off. We provide information, statistics, interactive content and entertainment. And, of course, the line-ups and the match action. Our reporters are certainly kept busy on their keyboards.
Loads of images are compiled – from events before the game, our prose warming up, fan choreography and, of course, the best moments of the game. And the fans also have their say during the game via social media channels. Everything live and in colour!
After the game we provide detailed match report of the 90 minutes. We present the best photos in a gallery. And Bayer 04 TV also provide post-match interviews and highlights of the press conference with the two coaches. The minutes-by-minute reporting is also available for those interested. And there is also the current league table.
We have packaged all that – before, during and after – clearly on one page. You can't have more on a matchday. The matchday page is easily by going to the 'game plan' button on the homepage. you can easily navigate to the previous and next matchday without having to leave the matchday page.

In mid-August, the Werkself will set off on a four-day trip to England to play their final two friendly matches of the 2026/27 pre-season against Premier League clubs Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United. The match in Nottingham against the Tricky Trees is on Wednesday 12 August at 20:45 CEST (19:45 BST) at the City Ground. The game against the Magpies in Newcastle is on Saturday 15 August at 16:00 CEST (15:00 BST) at the atmospheric St James’ Park. Details on ticket sales for both matches.

Black and Red talent development at the highest level – even off the pitch: Apprentices Jule Suermann, Leandra Bellia and Julia Niederheide have successfully completed their two- or three-year apprenticeships at the club. Bayer 04 honoured the trio at the BayArena on Tuesday.

The Werkself return tomorrow, Tuesday 14 July (from 11:00 CEST at the BayArena; live stream on bayer04.de, the Bayer 04 app and YouTube), with new head coach Carles Martínez leading his first training session as part of the Bayer 04 set-up. His coaching team comprises a mix of new and long-standing colleagues.

The Germany U19 team were beaten 2-0 by record champions Spain in the final of the U19 European Championship in Wales. Bayer 04 players Montrell Culbreath and Francis Onyeka (on loan at SV 07 Elversberg) were in the starting line-up and played the full 90 minutes.
