"What happens on the pitch is crucial" – every German football fan knows this legendary sentence from Adi Preißler. He hits the nail on the head about what really matters to us all in the end: the match. About what happens in front of us on the pitch. About tackles and goals. About football in the final analysis. And that's exactly why we have focused so much of our attention on the matchday page on our new website. We asked ourselves: How can we get our fans perfectly in the mood for a the Werkself matchday?
What information should definitely be included? What do we want to deliver in our live reporting of the 90 minutes? What can we offer after the final whistle? And how can we present everything to do with a matchday in detail and, at the same time, in a comprehensive and compact fashion?
The matchday page is our answer to all these questions. Everything thing is brought together here: text, images, interviews, minute-by minute reporting, press conferences, social media content. Everything to do with a Werkself matchday. Always available and optimised for all devices.
The first content comes in days before the match. For example, the our next opponents profile. Comprehensive data preview and statistics. Ticket information. That is gradually followed by video coverage of the press conference with the head coach and the match preview compiled by Bayer 04 TV. The final facts about the current personnel situation for both teams, the match officials line-up, special matchday events or local transport updates complete the picture.
Matchday! Now it's exciting! We start our minute-by-minute live reporting two hours before kick-off. We provide information, statistics, interactive content and entertainment. And, of course, the line-ups and the match action. Our reporters are certainly kept busy on their keyboards.
Loads of images are compiled – from events before the game, our prose warming up, fan choreography and, of course, the best moments of the game. And the fans also have their say during the game via social media channels. Everything live and in colour!
After the game we provide detailed match report of the 90 minutes. We present the best photos in a gallery. And Bayer 04 TV also provide post-match interviews and highlights of the press conference with the two coaches. The minutes-by-minute reporting is also available for those interested. And there is also the current league table.
We have packaged all that – before, during and after – clearly on one page. You can't have more on a matchday. The matchday page is easily by going to the 'game plan' button on the homepage. you can easily navigate to the previous and next matchday without having to leave the matchday page.
That's how we construct an archive that retains EVERYTHING about all 34 Werkself matchdays in the season: images, facts, match reports, statistics, TV reaction, press conferences, minute-by-minute reporting and, last not least, what our fans have posted about the relevant match.
And that applies immediately to every matchday. Because we know: After every game is before the game…
