Sporting managing director Simon Rolfes sees the agreement with Hradecky as a strategically important step for the future approach under the Bayer Cross. "Lukas Hradecky came to us at Leverkusen as a top keeper in the Bundesliga in 2018. As a key performer here he has developed into a player the Bayer 04 fans can absolutely identify with," explained Rolfes. "Lukas is part of the spine of our key players and he takes on a lot of responsibility off the pitch as well. We are very happy to continue on our journey together."
For the 32-year-old Hradecky, the contract extension under the Bayer Cross is "confirmation that I took the right step four years ago by coming here. I've been able to continue developing as a player here at Bayer 04. The appreciation of being able to be captain here has shaped me very much and it fills me with great pride."

Bayer 04 midfielder Ibrahim Maza was honoured in Paris in the Best Algerian Young Player category at the Fennec d'Or awards for the Algerian Footballer of the Year, organised for the first time by the football journal La Gazette du Fennec.
