
This will be the first official Werkself launch at the home ground in nine years – this year it includes the final pre-season friendly against top opposition.
Spanish top-flight club Real Sociedad are the opponent's in a 14.30 kick-off. The club finished ninth in the Primers Liga last term and they played Bayer 04 in the group stage of the 2013/14 Champions League campaign. This match will be the final run-out for Roger Schmidt's team ahead of the DFB Cup Round One tie at fifth-tier SC Hauenstein the following weekend.
In addition to the match, there will plenty to excite and entertain the Werkself faithful in and around the BayArena. During half-time the Bayer 04 CEO Michael Schade and sporting director Rudi Völler will take part in a Q&A session on the new season. One highlight is the presentation of the new Bundesliga squad including the introduction of the players. After the game there will be a big autograph session. This will be held inside the ground with access via the F1 entrance at 17.09 CET.
Looking forward to 80 million
Musical entertainment is provided by the current chart hit in Germany Max Giesinger who will perform his hit '80 million' on the concourse at the BayArena and there are also plenty of activities and fun for young and old alike.

Thanks to a masterstroke from Katharina Piljic, the Werkself secured their eleventh win of the season in the Google Pixel Women's Bundesliga. On Sunday evening, coach Roberto Pätzold's team beat FC Carl Zeiss Jena 1-0. Midfielder Piljic scored the winning goal with a volley into the corner from the edge of the box (19’) in front of 633 spectators at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium - and ensured that Leverkusen moved up to fifth place in the table for at least one night with 34 points.

Bayer 04 will have to make do without forward Martin Terrier in the next few weeks. The Frenchman sustained a muscle injury in his right hamstring in Saturday's 3-3 draw at Heidenheim in the Bundesliga.

Three goals weren’t enough for the Werkself to beat FC Heidenheim on Saturday. The 3-3 stalemate was Bayer 04’s third Bundesliga draw in a row. After a commanding first half and a two-goal lead, “we didn’t get back into our game,” summarised Mark Flekken, who featured between the sticks for the first time in two months. Patrik Schick once again proved his nose for goal, bagging a brace. He is now the third-most prolific Bundesliga scorer in the club’s history. Despite the squandered points, head coach Kasper Hjulmand remains confident ahead of the final spurt of the season: “We’re ready to overcome this situation.” The Werkself review.
