Pohjanpalo was unable to save the Turkish top-flight club from relegation despite being the fourth highest scorer in the Süper Lig last season with 16 goals. The Finland international scored eight goals for the Werkself in 28 games.

Bayer 04 matched this sum with an equal contribution. As a result, a total of €10,000 was presented to Edmond Tapsoba for his foundation ahead of the home match against Hamburg.
