Palacios sidelined, good news for Frimpong

Bayer 04 will have to manage without World Cup winner Exequiel Palacios. The midfielder suffered a muscle injury in his right thigh during the top game away to RB Leipzig on Bundesliga Matchday 18 on Saturday night. That was the outcome of an MRI examination the day after the 3-2 away win for the Werkself and it means the 25-year-old Argentinian will have to watch from the sidelines for the time being.

There is good news for Palacios’ teammate Jeremie Frimpong . The Dutch wingback received a heavy blow to his right thigh but there is no serious injury and he will be able to train with the Bayer 04 squad in the coming week. The painful injury in the match in Leipzig marked the end of the game for Frimpong after 30 minutes.

Bayer 04 were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Bayern Munich in an eventful Matchday 26 fixture in the Bundesliga. Aleix Garcia had given the Werkself the lead inside six minutes, but Bayern levelled in the second half through Luis Diaz, despite Nicolas Jackson having been send off before the break. Diaz was then dismissed himself as Leverkusen pushed for a winner, which failed to materialise as Jonas Hofmann saw a late goal ruled out.
