Florian Wirtz is a first choice in the Werkself line-up at the age of 18. His strengths on the pitch are very familiar to fans and football supporters. But what makes our number 27 tick away from the pitch? Bayer 04 TV held a quick Q&A with the player from Pulheim. HERE is the video.

World Nurses Day: thank you, care staff

Care staff have been put under immense pressure by the coronavirus pandemic in recent months. The Leverkusen Clinic thanks its nursing staff once again: On World Nurses Day, held every year on May 12, a large banner was displayed at the entrance to the health park in Schlebusch. It reads: “Thank you, your’re simply brilliant!” We support those words…

Basketball: BAYER GIANTS runners-up

The BAYER GIANTS Leverkusen have secured an impressive second place in Bundesliga 2 this season. The TSV Bayer 04 basketball team, Germany’s record champions with 14 titles in basketball, lost out to MLP Academics Heidelberg in the final of the play-offs. Bayer 04 congratulate the Giants for a great season.

happy 60th birthday, Tom Dooley

Thomas Dooley, Tom for short, was born in Bechhofen on 12 May 1961, the son of an American soldier and a German mother. He only became a professional footballer at the age of 22 at FC Homburg. After the 1994 World Cup, where he played for the USA, Thomas signed for the Werkself. He made 16 Bundesliga appearances during his year under the Bayer Cross.
