Former Bayer 04 player Henrichs (currently at AS Monaco) is a guest on the ZDF sports programme Aktuelles Sportstudio. From 23.00 CET, the 23-year-old will talk to presenter Dunja Hayali about his three years as Werkself first team player in eleven years at the club including the youth teams at Leverkusen and other issues including racism in professional football. Düsseldorf goalkeeper Zack Steffen will also take part in the programme.
30 minutes ahead of kick-off at tomorrow’s Bundesliga away game at Schalke 04, fans can again get in the mood for the game. From 17.30 CET, Bayer 04 will again broadcast the ‘Spieltag – Die Show’ live on YouTube. The interview guest at the Schwadbud this time: Markus Happe. After nine years with Bayer 04 (1991 to 2000) the central defender moved on to the Werkself’s opponents from Gelsenkirchen. The man from Münster played for the Royal Blues for two and a half years before returning to Leverkusen via FC Köln and Kickers Offenbach where he ended his playing career with the Bayer 04 Reserves in the summer of 2010.

Bayer 04 loanee Joel Pohjanpalo keeps on scoring in the second division. The striker netted the only goal of the game on 84 minutes in the 1-0 win for Hamburg SV at Dynamo Dresden. It was the eighth goal scored by the Finn since he moved north in the winter break. Jolle’s loan will be completed at the end of the current campaign.
Erich Ribbeck, coach of the Leverkusen team that won the UEFA Cup in 1988, is 83 today. The Wuppertal-born coach was at the helm with the Werkself between 1985 and 1988 as well as from April 1995 to April 1996. Ribbeck’s last coaching post was with Germany (1998 to 2000). Bayer 04 wishes many happy returns to Erich!

A thrilling final but with no reward: the Bayer 04 U19s lost 5-4 to 1. FC Köln in the final for the German championship. Sergi Runge's side went into a commanding lead through goals by Artem Stepanov and Jeremiah Mensah, but the visitors battled back and turned it into a 4-2 lead before half-time. Leverkusen then showed their own comeback qualities in the second period, with Francis Onyeka and Kerim Alajbegovic restoring partiy, but Luis Stapelmann snatched the winner for Köln late on.
