The Werkself have not lost a single Bundesliga match at FC Augsburg with a record of seven wins and four draws in favour of the Black and Reds. No other team in the history of the Bundesliga has played another side at home without winning as often as Augsburg against the Werkself. FCA do not have a lower points average against another side as they do with Bayer 04 (0.43) and the Werkself in turn do not have a higher percentage of wins (65%) and a bigger points average (2.26) against any other current team in Germany's top flight as they do against Augsburg.
They made a frenetic start to the new calendar year in the 4-3 defeat in Dortmund when they showed their ability to take blows as they got back into the game three times after going behind. It was annoying for FC Augsburg that they lost the game but does not take anything away from the impressive overall impression the team left behind. They followed up this performance a few days later with a 1-0 home win against Borussia Mönchengladbach. After eight games in succession without a win, FC Augsburg were once again finally able to pick up three points against the Foals. It was their second win on their home ground this season – the first was in September of last year when they beat Bayern Munich 1-0. Click here for the lowdown on our next opponents.
The German Football Association (DFB) have appointed Marco Fritz as the referee for the game against Augsburg. Lying third in the Bundesliga, the Werkself made a faltering start in 2026 after the winter break, but gradually rediscovered winning ways and, as in the previous campaign, were among the top 16 in Europe and the top four in the DFB Pokal. In the Bundesliga, the Werkself also remained in the race for Champions League qualification right to the end. However, because setbacks repeatedly crept into the Werkself's performances between good displays and crucial games, it was not quite enough to secure a UCL spot in the end. A season with many ups and downs brought sixth place and qualification for the UEFA Europa League. Part II of the review of the 2025/26 season.
