Muscle injury sidelines Bellarabi for Bundesliga start

Bayer 04 will have to manage without Karim Bellarabi for next weekend’s Bundesliga opener at FC Union Berlin. The 31-year-old suffered an injury to his right thigh on Saturday during the DFB Cup first round tie at Regional League FC Lokomotive Leipzig. That was the diagnosis from an MRI scan from today (Sunday). It appears likely that Bellarabi will be out of action for three weeks.

The winger scored himself in the 3-0 win for Bayer 04 in Leipzig. And Bellarabi was brought down in the penalty area for the spot-kick converted by Kerem Demirbay, who netted a brace for Leverkusen.
