Mitchell Weiser joins Werder Bremen in loan deal

Mitchell Weiser is leaving Bayer 04 Leverkusen to join Werder Bremen with immediate effect. The second division club have signed the right-back on loan to the end of the current 2021/22 campaign.

Weiser signed for the Werkself in 2018 and he has a contract to 2023. In his three years under the Bayer Cross, the Troisdorf-born defender made 75 appearances for Bayer 04 scoring four goals for the Black and Reds.

Yesterday, Tuesday 21 October, the Leverkusen gamers hosted the eSports players of the reigning champions of the UEFA Champions League as part of the UEFA Champions League home match between the Werkself and Paris Saint-Germain. Like the #B04eSports team in the VBL Club Championship, PSG finished runners-up in the eLigue 1 Championship last season.

UEFA Youth League - U19s secure 2-2 draw against Paris Saint-Germain

The Bayer 04 U19s produced an outstanding performance despite numerous absentees to take a point against Paris Saint-Germain on Matchday 3 of the UEFA Youth League 2025/26 following on from two wins in the European youth competition. In front of 611 spectators at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium, the Leverkusen side went into the break with a 1-0 lead against the U19 team of the Champions League winners. PSG quickly turned the game around after the break, but the Werkself fought back to remain unbeaten on the European stage with this 2-2 draw thanks to a focussed defensive display.
