“We had to find a good solution in this important position given that it is unclear when Andrey will return to our squad. We have found that solution in Patrick Pentz, ” explained sporting director Simon Rolfes. “Patrick is excellent with his feet, has good reflexes and brings a wealth of experience and match practice. We are happy with the opportunity to get an ambitious keeper of high quality who will strengthen our squad.”
The 6'1” tall Pentz is happy with his move to Germany. “Of course, the Bundesliga is very attractive to me as an Austrian with lots of my fellow countrymen playing here too. And with Bayer 04 Leverkusen I now have the chance to put my ability to the test at a top four club,” said the four-time international. “I’ll play my part and work hard so we can continue on the same track and achieve our targets for the season.”
