The winger came to Leverkusen from KRC Genk in January 2017. Bailey scored 31 goals in 156 games for the Werkself. "He turned from a talent into a top player at Leverkusen," said sporting director Simon Rolfes. "We wish him every success in his future career."

Leon Bailey has good memories of his time under the Bayer Cross. “Leverkusen are a top club. I was able to reach a higher level here. There will always be a place in my heart for the club, team and the fans. But now it's time for me to start the next chapter in my career."
