International round-up: Boniface assist in debut for Nigeria

The current international break is proving to be unforgettable for Bayer 04 striker Victor Boniface: The 22-year-old was not only selected for his home country of Nigeria but he also made his international debut on Sunday night. Lukas Hradecky with Finland suffered defeat in a Euro qualifier and Adam Hlozek was in the Czechia line-up for a friendly fixture.

Victor Boniface described his international debut as a "proud moment" shortly after the game. Nigeria entertained São Tomé and Príncipe on matchday six in the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations – and they clocked up an impressive 6-0 victory against the island state. Boniface, recently voted Bundesliga Rookie of the Month for August, came off the bench on the hour mark with the scoreline at 3-0. The Werkself player provided the assist for the sixth goal adding to his tally with the Werkself since the start of the season (seven goal involvements in four games).

Following his imminent return to Leverkusen, Boniface and his teammates will start preparing for the Bundesliga top match away to Bayern Munich on Friday 15 September (kick-off: 20.30 CEST).

Finland lose top spot

Finland, with goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky, were left empty-handed on Sunday night. Following the 1-0 win in Kazakhstan, the Bayer 04 captain and his fellow countrymen suffered a 1-0 defeat against Denmark on matchday six in the Euro qualifiers. The only goal of the game was scored on 86 minutes. That means the Finns lose top spot and are now third in Group H a point behind Denmark and group leaders Slovenia.

Hlozek starts for czechia

Czechia played a friendly in Hungary on Sunday night. A goalless first half was followed by the hosts taking the lead on 52 minutes with the Czechs levelling ten minutes later for the final score of 1-1. Bayer 04 striker Adam Hlozek started for Czechia and played for 83 minutes.

New plan for the Bayer 04 Campus: Area reduced by a third, green corridor widened

Bayer 04 has presented the groups on the Monheim council with extensively revised proposals for the planned Campus. As part of constructive discussions, the club presented a plan to the CDU, SPD, Greens, FDP, PETO and the Left Party that envisages a one-third reduction in the area of the site on Alfred-Nobel-Strasse. The distance to neighbours will be increased by almost 60 percent. The green corridor will therefore be significantly larger than previously planned. Here are the main changes.
