‘Holidays without war’: Bayer 04, TSV and Bayer AG support summer camp for children from Ukraine

Since 2016, the German-Ukrainian association Blau-Gelbes Kreuz e.V. has been organising holiday stays in the Rhineland for children and young people from war-affected cities in Ukraine. This year’s programme included sport, workshops, excursions and social evenings. These were days when the fear of attacks, explosions and sirens faded into the background for a short while, allowing the children to enjoy carefree moments with their peers.

Bayer 04, TSV Bayer 04 and Bayer AG provided and paid for accommodation, meals and tickets for activities. Among other things, the children visited the BayArena, the BayLabs, Phantasialand, Wuppertal Zoo and the town halls in Leverkusen, Cologne and Monheim am Rhein. There were also sports sessions at the Bayer 04 facilities. The club also provided the participants with shirts.

The German-Ukrainian charity Blau-Gelbes Kreuz e.V., based in Cologne, has been supporting the people of Ukraine since its foundation in 2014. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the organisation has significantly expanded its humanitarian aid efforts once again. The organisation is in contact with around 500 collection points throughout Ukraine and also supports German local authorities in organising and delivering humanitarian aid to their Ukrainian twin towns.
