“We were really looking forward to this match and regret that it has been postponed. However, from a sporting perspective, we fully understand FC Carl Zeiss Jena’s reasons,” said Simon Rolfes, Bayer 04 managing director sport. “At the same time, at this stage of our pre-season and immediately before the start of our training camp, it is important for us to face an opponent who can play freely and with full intensity. We will draw on our good relations with Jena – which we have maintained for some time, not just since the Pokal tie two years ago – to reschedule the friendly for a later date.”
Fans who purchased their ticket for the match in Jena through Bayer 04 will automatically receive a full refund of the ticket price. No further action is required.
