Friendly against Ajax on Wednesday

Bayer 04 are using the international break to give players at Leverkusen the chance to get some match practice: The Werkself have a friendly against Dutch giants Ajax at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium on Wednesday 20 March at 14.00 CET. The match will be played behind closed doors on safety grounds.

As with the team under coach Peter Bosz, missing eight players due to international call-ups, Ajax will also be without a number of international players for the friendly in the shadows of the BayArena. The Champions League quarter-finalists are in second place in the Eredivisie five points behind leaders and reigning champions PSV Eindhoven. Bayer 04 coach Peter Bosz managed Ajax in 2016/17 and he lead them to the final of the Europa League. Ajax are currently coached by Erik ten Hag. Today it was announced that the Ajax assistant coach Alfred Schreuder will take over as head coach at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for the new season 2019/20 as successor to Julian Nagelsmann.
