"In Loïc Badé we have signed a young but very experienced central defender for Bayer 04. He’s used to playing against absolutely world-class strikers in La Liga in Spain," explained managing director sport Simon Rolfes. "Loïc is physically uncompromising and can read the game, an absolute addition to strengthening our defence. We are competitive at the highest level with this defence."
Badé made his first appearance for the Équipe Tricolore in June at the finals of the Nations League in Germany in the 2-0 win for France against Germany in the game for third place. He has played 79 games for Sevilla in Spain's top-flight. Before that he played 46 games for Stade Rennes in Ligue 1.
"The Bundesliga and German football really appeal to me. Bayer Leverkusen have earned great recognition abroad in recent years," said the 1.91 metre tall right-footer. "I've seen them a lot on TV, above all in European games. The stadium and the Leverkusen fans were brilliant. It will be great fun to battle for a trophy for Bayer 04 with that background."
Up to and including Friday, 22 August fans can get Badé 5 printing when buying a jersey at the Bayer 04 online shop or at the Bayer 04 Fanwelt. Bayer 04 Club members save €13.41, non-members €14.90.
