Carro’s visit underlines the club’s long-term commitment to Brazil, one of Bayer 04’s most important international markets. The trip takes place one year after Bayer 04 Leverkusen became the first German club ever to hold a training camp in Brazil, further strengthening its presence and partner-relationships in the country.

In São Paulo, the delegation will attend the first anniversary celebrations of the Bayer 04 Football Academy, led by club legend Paulo Sérgio. The event will be hosted at the academy’s home ground, “Clube de Bayer”, and will provide the opportunity to announce significant partnership progress as well as to showcase plans for the next phase of the academy project throughout Brazil.

Paulo Sérgio, Head of the Bayer 04 Football Academy in Brazil, said: “The first year of the Academy has been a very positive start. We have seen great enthusiasm from children and families, and we are excited about the opportunities ahead. The anniversary celebrations will be a special moment to reflect on what has been achieved and look ahead to the future.”

The second part of the journey will take the group to Rio de Janeiro, where Carro will visit ‘Bola Pra Frente’ (once again), a social initiative founded by former Bayer 04 and Brazil international Jorginho. For more than two decades, the 1994 World Cup winner and his organization have supported thousands of children through sport and community programs. Further details regarding a new and long term cooperation between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and ‘Bola Pra Frente’ will be shared during the visit.

During his stay in the country of the five-time world champions, Fernando Carro will participate in a number of media and stakeholder events. Being in Brazil during the FIFA World Cup also provides a unique opportunity to experience the country’s passion for football at a special moment for the sport. Alongside discussions about Bayer 04’s growing presence in Brazil and the increasing popularity of the Bundesliga, Carro will share insights from his broad experience as one of Europe’s leading sports executives.

Fernando Carro, CEO of Bayer 04 Leverkusen, said: “Brazil is a key part of Bayer 04’s international vision. We have built close relationships throughout the country over the past years - through football, strong partnerships and meaningful initiatives. This visit is an opportunity to strengthen those connections and continue developing our long-term commitment to this important football market.”
