England tour: Friendlies vs. Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United

Bayer 04 Leverkusen usher in the final phase of their pre-season preparations for the 2026/27 campaign with a friendly against Premier League side Nottingham Forest. The Werkself face the “Tricky Trees” on 12 August at 20.45 CEST (7.45 pm local time) at the City Ground, home to the storied English club. Head coach Carles Martínez’s side will then travel further north, where they will face Forest's league rivals Newcastle United to round off their tour of England. The match against the team featuring Germany internationals Nick Woltemade and Malik Thiaw takes place on Saturday 15 August at 4.00 pm (3.00 pm local time) at Newcastle’s atmospheric St James’ Park. As part of their preparations for the coming season, Bayer 04 previously arranged friendly matches against Oberliga club Sportfreunde Baumberg (18 July, 15:30 CEST in Monheim am Rhein), away to Regionalliga side Kickers Offenbach (25 July, 15:00 CEST), away to fellow fourth-tier team FC Carl Zeiss Jena (1 August, 18:00 CEST) and, in Bayer 04's official season opener, against Spanish top-flight side FC Sevilla (8 August).

Paulina Bartz makes permanent move to Hamburger SV

Attacking midfielder Paulina Bartz is leaving Bayer 04 Leverkusen for good on a permanent move to Hamburger SV in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga. The 21-year-old, who was on loan to the newly promoted side in the winter, originally had a contract to 2027.
