In an ill-tempered encounter with two red cards, seven yellows and numerous mass confrontations, Argentina took a two-goal lead through Sergio Agüero (12') and Paulo Dybala (20') before the former Bayer 04 player Arturo Vidal spulled a goal back from the penalty spot on 59 minutes. The spot-kick – as in the last game against Peru (0-3) – was won by Charles Aránguiz; the Werkself number 20 was fouled on the edge of the box by Argentina's Giovani Lo Celso. The 30-year-old, the last Werkself player in action on international duty, played a holding midfield role and was substituted on 83 minutes.
Aránguiz now goes on a well-deserved summer holiday and is expected to return to the Werkself squad at the end of July.
