Belocian out for rest of season with cruciate ligament injury

Bayer 04 will be without Jeanuel Belocian for several months after the defender tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Sunday’s friendly against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. The initial checks in the stadium on the day had not suggested such an injury.

It therefore means the 19-year-old, whose knee condition worsened in the night from Sunday to Monday, won’t play again this season after Monday’s MRI scan brought certainty. Following an operation and subsequent rehabilitation at the Werkstatt, Belocian will only be available to the Werkself again from the 2025/26 campaign.
