"We are continually working on improving the comfort and service quality at the BayArena. The new system will considerably speed up the payment process and therefore benefit our fans," said Fernando Carro, chairman of the board at Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Cashless payments will be accepted at all payment points and both contactless and usual methods are possible. Last season's trial run shows that this functions well and has been popularly received.
Also there will be no problem with the return of multi-use cups that are to be introduced from the start of the new season. A deposit of two euros will simply be credited to the EC or credit card used.
11,000 spectators at the Champions for Charity event on Sunday 21 July were able to use their preferred payment method at all the food and drink outlets at the BayArena. The next opportunity to test the new payment system is available to Bayer 04 fans on Sunday 4 August as part of the official season launch.

After full time in the 1-1 draw against FC Bayern Munich, the Bayer 04 fans first had to catch their breath. Firstly because of their usual loud support, and secondly because of the great drama they'd witnessed on the pitch: three disallowed goals, two red cards and a Werkself side who "again produced a very good performance against strong opponents", as head coach Kasper Hjulmand described. The Dane was particularly enthused by the performance of young Montrell Culbreath, while Patrik Schick got to enjoy his 200th appearance under the Cross. The Werkself Review unpacks the action.
