According to the director of football Kim Falkenberg, "Abdoulaye Faye has everything needed to become an impressive player in our Werkself team. He's a very good footballer, has outstanding ability in creating moves and he produces quality passes," said Falkenberg.
The 1.91 metre tall defender is happy about his move to the Werkself: “Leverkusen offers me a great chance that I definitely want to take. I will do all I can to put myself in the frame at Bayer 04 over the long term,” said Faye. “It’s a top European club - wearing the Leverkusen jersey will inspire me every day.“
Strengthening the Bayer 04 Leverkusen youth teams: Konstantinos Kotsifakis will join the Werkself from Bundesliga 2 club Hertha Berlin for the 2026/27 season, where he will be a permanent member of the Leverkusen U19 coaching set-up. The German-Greek will also take on an operational role in coaching the Bayer 04 Future Team. The 29-year-old was most recently head coach of the U17s at Hertha Berlin.
