“Claudio Echeverri is a technically gifted, energetic player who is very dynamic between the lines from where he poses a threat,” said managing director sport Simon Rolfes in assessing the qualities of the 1.70 metre tall right footer. “A classy footballer – very good at dribbling, direct going forwards and always able to bring his teammates into play positively. Football fans come to games to watch players like Claudio,” added Rolfes. “His creativity will bring new and attractive elements to our game.”
The Argentine U20 international joined the top English club from River Plate in January 2024 who then loaned him back to his hometown club in Buenos Aires for another year. The transfer completed at the start of 2025 brought Echeverri to Manchester where he is seen as a future star and he is now set to achieve that target.
“It’s fantastic for me to take the next steps with the 2024 champions of Germany now in the Bundesliga and the Champions League,” declared a happy Echeverri who recently scored for City in the Club World Cup in the USA. “I want to get a lot of minutes on the pitch and develop into an even better player week by week. A lot of young players have made it to the top of the game here at Bayer Leverkusen,” said Echeverri. “I want to take that path in the coming season and play my part in helping Bayer 04 achieve great things.”
Up to and including Friday, 22 August fans can get free Echeverri 9 printing with the purchase of a jersey at the Bayer 04 online shop or at the Bayer 04 Fanwelt. Bayer 04 Club members save €13.41, non-members €14.90.
