Bayer 04 say goodbye to loanees Buendia, Hermoso and Mukiele
Bayer 04 said goodbye to loanees Emiliano Buendia, Mario Hermoso and Nordi Mukiele ahead of kick-off in their final home game of the 2024/25 Bundesliga season against Borussia Dortmund.
Mukiele joined last summer from Paris Saint-Germain and has made 24 competitive appearances for the Werkself (two goals, one assist). The 27-year-old defender netted the decisive late goal in the 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League’s league phase.
Hermoso, who wasn’t present on Sunday due to personal reasons, arrived in Leverkusen from Roma in January. The Spanish defender has played seven times for the Werkself but saw his season ended in March with a shoulder injury.
Buendia also joined in the winter window from Aston Villa. The versatile attacker has played 17 games for the Werkself, with one of his two goals earning a last-minute win at Heidenheim.

The German Football Association (DFB) has officially recognised Bayer 04 as a women’s talent support centre. As announced by the DFB, 1 FC Köln, Union Berlin, RB Leipzig and Hamburger SV are also certified as performance or talent support centres from 1 January 2026 in addition to the Werkself.
