Bayer 04 pick up talent Alfa-Ruprecht from Manchester City

"Farid Alfa-Ruprecht has caught the eye as a winger in the English U21 league," said Bayer 04 managing director sport Simon Rolfes. "An impressive goalscoring rate, tremendous speed and great footballing talent make him a highly interesting candidate for our first team." Director of football Kim Falkenberg added: "We see clear potential in Farid to become an important player for Bayer 04 in the future."

Born in Hamburg and of Ghanaian descent, he moved from the HSV academy to Manchester City three years ago. His preferred position is on the right wing but he can also operate on the left flank, where his strong right foot can provide a goal threat. "Leverkusen are a top club with great appeal," said the 1.81-metre-tall Alfa-Ruprecht. "I will repay the faith shown in me and do everything for the chance to wear the Bayer shirt."
