Bayer 04 mourn the loss of former president

Bayer 04 mourn the loss of Dr. Jürgen Schwericke, who passed away at the end of August at the age of 86.

Dr. Schwericke, employed by Bayer AG from 1960 and up to 1994 as the head company lawyer, was the president of the Sportvereinigung Bayer 04 Leverkusen from 1975 to 1984. "We have to thank his creative energy for promotion from Bundesliga Division 2 North to the Bundesliga in 1979. The club laid the foundations for future success under his leadership," said Bayer 04 CEO Michael Schade.

At Bayer 04 home games, Dr. Schwericke often used to leave his seat in the stands and go down to the running track to support the team at pitch level. Dr. Schwericke also made a name for himself in local government politics in Leverkusen: The Berliner was on the City Council as a member of the CDU group from 1975 to 1990.

Bayer 04 want to preserve the memory of Dr. Jürgen Schwericke in an appropriate manner.
