“We see Arthur as a player who can and should play a key role in shaping the future of the club with his footballing skills and his passion for Bayer 04,” said Managing Director Sport Simon Rolfes. "Unfortunately, Arthur has had some serious injuries up to this point, which have slowed down his promising path to becoming a top player. We want to continue his positive development this season and are delighted we can count on this great player and person over the long term," said Rolfes.
Arthur Augusto de Matos Soares moved from América Mineiro to Leverkusen in January 2023. He made his full international debut for Brazil in the same year. He is now looking forward to his time at Bayer 04: "This club with its extraordinary family environment has given me a home. The contract extension to 2031 is an impressive vote of confidence and shows me how much they are counting on me here," says the personable right-footer. "I will repay them with my performances and total commitment. We've already achieved a lot together. We want that standard to continue to apply to us in the coming years."
