04 questions for… Paulo Sergio
Paulo, how does it feel for you being able to welcome the team here in your own country?
Sergio: After lots of discussions and all the planning it's even better now it's finally got going. Seeing everybody here now and being able to welcome them here makes me very happy.
Are these moments also emotional for you? It is your former club, who you played for over many years, who are now here as guests in your homeland...
Sergio: This is a very special time for me. So much has happened to me in recent weeks personally and between Bayer 04 and Brazil. There's the Bayer 04 Football Academy in São Paulo with so many happy children, the media channels in my native language, and now the big highlight of this training camp. There is enormous interest here and I’ve felt that myself over the past few days. That really pleases me!
What can the group expect in the next few days?
Sergio: The facilities and organisation here are brilliant whether that's the hotel or Flamengo as a sporting host. Everything is a bit new for everybody but it will all go really well. I hope and I'm sure it will be a successful training camp and it will lay the foundations for an equally successful season.
What are you looking forward to most?
Sergio: For me the main thing is the interaction with everybody who will make the next few days unforgettable for me. Whether that's Rudi Völler or one of the many familiar faces from other Bundesliga clubs – everybody has told me that the connection between Bayer 04 and Brazil is really special. We want to continue that in the coming days but also after the training camp.
