BA04 Football Academy Guangzhou visits Leverkusen

Following a trip to the Three-Country Point on Saturday, the young Chinese footballers took to the pitch the following day for a joint training session with the youngsters from the Bayer 04 Football Academy. The international exchange between the Leverkusen and Chinese academy players continued off the pitch as well, with a joint lunch.

The children from the Football Academy were truly amazed the following day during a guided tour of the BayArena. They eagerly secured their places on the Bundesliga substitutes’ bench, explored the away team changing room and took a look inside the press conference room. The delegation returned there two days later for a private press conference with former player and club representative Stefan Kießling.

The honorary captain spoke to the young players about his own career, looked back on his playing days under the Bayer Cross and shared some entertaining anecdotes. Finally, he offered the eager youngsters plenty of advice for their future careers.

He will be leading the delegation from the Far East this coming Saturday, 10 October, travelling upstream along the Rhine: to round off their visit, the group will attend the Werkself Bundesliga fixture at Mainz 05 and cheer on the Black and Reds from the stands.
