Alejandro Grimaldo named Bundesliga Player of the Month for April

Bayer 04’s Alejandro Grimaldo has been voted the Bundesliga’s Player of the Month for April 2024. It’s the 28-year-old’s first title of this season, having been nominated six times previously during his maiden campaign in Germany.

The award is run by video game developer EA together with the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL). Grimaldo came out ahead of Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Lois Openda, Dani Olmo, Xavi Simons (all RB Leipzig) and Kevin Stöger (Bochum).

The Spaniard featured in all four of the Werkself’s Bundesliga games in April, providing two assists across the two wins and two draws.

An official Player of the Month award has been handed out in the Bundesliga since the 2018/19 season, with Wirtz’s latest triumph the 11th for a Leverkusen player.
