But now it's important for him to play regularly and take the next step," said Bayer 04 sporting director Simon Rolfes. "Ayman needs match practice at a high level. Waalwijk offer him that opportunity in the Eredivisie."
Azhil was in the senior squad under head coach Peter Bosz four times in the Bundesliga last term. He was also in the squad for one game in the DFB Cup and one in the Europa League. The defensive midfielder was also captain of the Bayer 04 U19 side in the U19 Bundesliga West.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed Spanish left-back Miguel Gutiérrez from Napoli. The 25-year-old has signed a contract with the club to 30 June 2031. Gutiérrez came through the youth ranks at Real Madrid; he moved to Italy a year ago from Girona, and he played a key role for Napoli with 36 appearances. The big Italian club finished last season as runners-up in Serie A.
