After contract extension: Bayer 04 loan Azhil to RKC Waalwijk

Bayer 04 have agreed a two-year contract extension with Ayman Azhil. The talented midfielder, who has been at Leverkusen since 2008, will go out on loan from the Werkself to the Dutch top-flight side RKC Waalwijk for the 2020/21 season.

"Ayman demonstrated his great potential in training sessions with the first team squad last year. But now it's important for him to play regularly and take the next step," said Bayer 04 sporting director Simon Rolfes. "Ayman needs match practice at a high level. Waalwijk offer him that opportunity in the Eredivisie."

Azhil was in the senior squad under head coach Peter Bosz four times in the Bundesliga last term. He was also in the squad for one game in the DFB Cup and one in the Europa League. The defensive midfielder was also captain of the Bayer 04 U19 side in the U19 Bundesliga West.
