Achilles injury: Hradecky sidelined for weeks

Bayer 04 Leverkusen will have to continue to manage without first-choice keeper Lukas Hradecky. That was the outcome of a number of examinations of the Finland goalkeeper. The 31-year-old suffered an injury to his right Achilles’ tendon in the first half of the Bundesliga match against FSV Mainz 05 on 13 February (2-2).

A return to training is dependent on the progress of his recovery. The unanimous diagnosis from the doctors means Lukas Hradecky will be out of action until after the international break at the end of March.

Werkself review #BVBB04: Another last-minute goal to keep record run going

Bayer 04 extended their unbeaten run this season to 45 competitive fixtures thanks to another dramatic finish away at Borussia Dortmund on Bundesliga Matchday 30. At first, the game looked like finishing goalless and then like a first defeat of 2023/24 for the Werkself before Leverkusen struck late yet again. This time it was Josip Stanisic in the seventh minute of added time to spark delight among the 8,000 travelling supporters and the coaches and substitutes on the bench. We round up the events in Dortmund in our Werkself review.
