He certainly had an emotional season with Liverpool last term. Quansah won the Premier League with the Reds. He made 25 appearances for the team led by coach Arne Slot. He came on as a substitute in the closing stages in the 4-0 win against Bayer 04 in the Champions League in November of last year. And, despite the emphatic result, he was impressed by the visitors from Leverkusen: “For the first hour they played like almost no other side at Anfield,” said Quansah.
Jarell Quansah joined the big club from Merseyside as a young boy. Born in Warrington, he first played for Woolston Rovers in his home town. In 2008 he joined Liverpool as a five-year-old. Liverpool is 30 kilometres west of Warrington. Quansah progressed through all the youth teams at the English record champions and he was the U19 team captain in the UEFA Youth League. In January 2023 he went out on loan to third division Bristol Rovers to gain match practice at a professional level. Quansah played 16 games in League One before returning to Liverpool in the summer of the same year. He made his debut for the Reds in August 2023 in a 2-1 win against Newcastle United. He went on to play 58 games for Liverpool.

Quansah also showed his ability as a central defender in England youth teams. He won the 2022 European championship with the U19s. He played an important role at the tournament scoring the winner in the 2-1 semi-final win against Italy and he provided an assist in the final against Israel.
The 22-year-old and 1.90 metre tall central defender was one of the standout defenders in the U21 tournament in Slovakia won by England. According to the stats, he was the fourth best ball winner, only had to tackle five times and did not pick up a single yellow card. His pass completion of 94.5% was well above average.

Bayer 04 fans can now look forward to watching their new number four. Jarell Quansah has signed a contract with the Werkself to 2030. “He made a very impressive contribution to a Liverpool defence full of world-class players. Jarell will give our defence extra dynamism, tempo and strength in winning the ball and he will also be another, very important element of the Werkself of the future,” said Bayer 04 managing director sport Simon Rolfes at the contract signing. Quansah is also full of anticipation looking forward to "a great role and new challenge for me being part of the current Leverkusen rebuild."

After eight years in the youth set-up at Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Benjamin Adam is leaving the club. The 35-year-old, who most recently coached the Leverkusen U17s, will take charge of the Hansa Rostock U19 team next season.

A fresh look for the BayArena: The Bayer 04 stadium will have new seating in the form of folding seats for the 2026/27 campaign that will ensure significantly improved seating comfort and simplified movement within the rows of seats. As part of routine replacement after 17 years, fans of the Werkself were able to purchase the existing seats, used to witness the first German league title in the club's history. In addition, a large proportion of the seats will be donated to charitable projects, primarily in the local region. Bayer 04 fans can look forward to new, functional folding seats for the season opener at the beginning of August - still in the club colours of black and red, of course.
