#B04eSports: Marc ‘MARC_LDW23’ Landwehr signs new deal

Planning for the new season is also making headway in the eSports section at Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Marc ‘MARC_LDW23’ Landwehr has extended his contract to 30 June 2024 with the 21-year-old gamer going into his fourth season with the Black and Reds.

"Marc is an absolute key player for us in the coming season," declared Julian Kaiser, eSports manager at Bayer 04. "Beyond his sporting ability, he identifies 100% with the club and the city. So, we are very happy to continue working together."

Landwehr joined the #B04eSports squad at the age of 18 at the start of the 2020/21 season in the Virtual Bundesliga (VBL). The eSports player, who grew up in Leverkusen, competed in the VBL Grand Final last season and was in the top eight in the DFB eCup. Alongside his career as an occupational health nurse plus his passion for eSports, Landwehr also plays football in goal.

Werkself champions of Germany with five-star victory

A day for the history books – Bayer 04 are champions of Germany! The Werkself beat Werder Bremen 5-0 on Bundesliga matchday 29 and have won the league title with five games to go with a 16-point lead. The goals were scored by Victor Boniface with a penalty on 25 minutes, a long-range strike from Granit Xhaka (61') plus a hat-trick from Florian Wirtz (68’, 84', 90',). The Werkself are now unbeaten in 43 games in succession.
