The duo of Kai ‘DETO’ Wollin and Marc ‘MARC_LDW23’ Landwehr started the long eSports evening. In a 2 v 2 game against FCSP the 90 virtual minutes ended in a 1-1 draw. The overall score in the clash with St. Pauli was 4-4.
For the 2 v 2 against HSV, Fabian ‘B04_DUBZJE’ De Cae played alongside Landwehr. Leverkusen took the lead on four minutes with a strike from the virtual Samed Onur but Hamburg hit back on 90 minutes. That meant this 2 v 2 game ended all square at 1-1. The overall win was secured as Landwehr and De Cae had already picked up four points in the 1 v 1 games against HSV.
The next opponents on the night were VfL Bochum. The club from the Ruhr Valley are runaway leaders in the North-West division – and they demonstrated their strength in the 1 v 1 game on PlayStation 4. Landwehr, previously unbeaten in 1 v 1 matches since joining Bayer 04, suffered a heavy 7-1 defeat against Bochum’s Cihan ‘CIHAN_OFFICIAL’ Yasarlar.
#B04eSports player ‘B04_DUBZJE’ conceded late-on in the 1 v 1 on Xbox against Ali ‘PREDATORFIFA’ Oskoui Rad and drew 1-1. As the 2 v 2 with ‘DETO’ and ‘MARC_LDW23’ produced a 2-2 draw, matchday 19 ended with an overall 5-2 defeat against Bochum.
The last opponents of the evening were FC Schalke 04. In the 1 v 1 on PlayStation 4, ‘DETO’ narrowly lost 2-1 in the opener against the Schalke player Joe ‘JH7’ Hellmann. The same scoreline, albeit in favour of the Black and Reds, was achieved by ‘B04_DUBZJE’ in the game against S04 eSports player Julius ‘JULI’ Kühle on Xbox. That meant the decider was the final 2 v 2 game. And how else could the result have been on this long Tuesday evening other than a draw in the fourth 2 v 2 encounter: 1-1 after 90 virtual minutes against the Royal Blues.
The #B04eSports players are in action again next Tuesday, 23 February. Matchday 21 starts at 18.00 CET with the games against bottom-of-the-table Eintracht Braunschweig. The opponents at 20.00 CET are FC Köln. The team from Cologne are currently third in the table and Leverkusen remain in sixth place.

It took exactly 60 minutes for the Werkself to take the lead through a perfectly finished counter-attack by Patrik Schick in the first leg of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League play-off at Olympiacos. Referring to the meeting in the league phase and the initially squandered opportunities, coach Kasper Hjulmand said afterwards: "I thought: 'Oh no, déjà-vu.'" But after the opening goal, it took just 144 seconds for the Czech to spark more wild celebrations among those in black and red in the Greek cauldron, when Schick nodded in Alejandro Grimaldo's corner. Much to the delight of the Bayer 04 fans, his teammates and his coach, who had warm words for the striker in the aftermath. The Werkself Review.

Bayer 04 and Olympiacos had only met twice before the current UEFA Champions campaign. After the encounter on Matchday 7 of this season’s league phase, the Werkself travel to face the Greek side for the second time in just four weeks for the knockout play-off first leg. The Black and Reds were dominant for large spells in mid-January but lost 2-0 after missing a number of presentable chances. The Werkself aim to do better on Wednesday night to “seize the chance for revenge,” as managing director sport Simon Rolfes put it. Here’s all you need to know ahead of the game in our matchday news.
