Retsos comes off his bike
Panos Retsos ended the Bayer 04 bike ride after yesterday's first stage. The Greek came off his bike at the start of the first leg from Bad Bertrich to Koblenz, suffering a slight injury to his left hand.
Retsos completed the remaining 93 kilometres without any problems arriving in Koblenz in the afternoon but the Greece international was taken back to Leverkusen as a precaution. Retsos had a plaster cast fitted. He will be on the training ground once the swelling on his hand has gone down. The Werkself will make the next stop in Bonn this afternoon.
The team under coach Heiko Herrlich complete the tour tomorrow at the BayArena.

Heading towards the competitive start of the 2026/27 season together: the Werkself kicked off preparations for the DFB Pokal clash at third-tier SV Wehen Wiesbaden with an open session in front of their fans on Tuesday morning. Before the first-round tie on Saturday 22 August at 13:00 CEST - for which the away section is already sold out - there'll be one more open session on Thursday from 11:00 CEST, when fans have another chance to watch head coach Carles Martínez's men at work.
