The former media director at Hamburg SV will coordinate the myriad of complex processes around the Leverkusen first team to maximise the mutual effect of the different sections at the Werkself.
"Demands on the coaching and support staff have grown enormously in the recent past due to specialisation. We have taken that into account," said sporting director Rudi Völler. "Jörn Wolf will act as a lynchpin in the processes between the different parts of the coaching staff, the physiotherapy and psychological sections as well as the remaining support staff. We are looking to improve the efficiency across all sections."
For head coach Roger Schmidt the creation of the new position is "the result of two and a half years successful cooperation that we have constantly analysed and assessed. The engagement of Jörn Wolf with his wide experience of the football business is an ideal appointment," said Schmidt. "Jörn's job will be to liaise between the specialists in the various sections. The target is to make full use of the potential of the many specialists and create ideal conditions for our team."
Since 2023, Bayer 04 has been organising regular free goalkeeping coach training sessions at the BayArena. As in previous years, the event attracted enormous interest in mid-October 2026. Through a theoretical keynote presentation and a practical session on the pitch, the participants gained insights into goalkeeping and goalkeeper training at Bayer 04.
