Gedikli agrees contact extension to 2023

Emrehan Gedikli will remain at Bayer 04 beyond the summer of 2022. The Germany U19 international, at Leverkusen since 2010, has signed a contract extension with the Werkself to 2023.

The 18-year-old has regularly trained with the first team this season and has been in the Werkself senior squad eight times. The striker has made appearances for the U19s scoring 13 times in eight matches in the first half of the season. "Emrehan is a penalty box player good at finishing who has had to overcome a few slight injuries in the first of the season. But his development is very promising," said sporting director Simon Rolfes. "Now it's important for him to get match practice at the highest possible level."

Gedikli made his senior debut for Bayer 04 in the Europa League in 2020/21 with three appearances in the group stage and he also made his first outing in the Bundesliga in the last game of the season at Dortmund. He won his first cap with the Germany U19s four months later and he has played four games and scored one goal for the national team so far.
